Duan came to the U.S. to pursue an education, first in biology, then law.

His career in art started first as a student at Mass College of Art in a certificate program on Industrial Design, as well as numerous adult education centers. This went on for decades but progress appeared subtle. While working from home during COVID , he started taking lessons from top-tier artists who moved their lessons online. With renewed enthusiasm, he started taking lessons from local artists.

This quickly helped him gain confidence, and soon friends started asking him to paint their portraits. While his art career is still young, he is very much enjoying the process of tinkering on a canvas.
